It works like an installer to get Cortana apps from the Google Play store or the Apple store.
The Windows 10 Phone Companion app resides on a Windows 10 PC. A Cortana companion app will be available for Android and iOS devices via a Windows 10 "Phone Companion" app for desktop PCs. Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president of Microsoft's Operating Systems Group, said in a blog post that Microsoft plans to deliver "companion apps" for Android and iOS with the launch of Windows 10. Microsoft on Tuesday announced its plan to bring Windows 10 apps, including the Cortana personal assistant, to Android and iOS devices.
